Global stainless steel production increases by 5.4% in Jan-Sep 2024

According to the World Stainless Association (Worldstainless), global stainless steel production increased by 5.4% year on year to 46.1 million tons from January to September 2024. China, the largest producer of stainless steel, saw an increase of 3.4% to 28.6 million tons, while the production in Asia, excluding China and South Korea, was approximately 5.4 million tons.

The production of stainless steel increased by 4.9%, 9.1%, and 11.2%, reaching 4.7 million tons in Europe, 1.5 million tons in the United States, and 5.9 million tons in other regions, including Brazil, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa, and South Korea, respectively.
