After a five-month negotiation, Parmanand Persaud, spokesman of Guyana's Ministry of Natural Resources, said that RUSAL’s subsidiary Bauxite Company of Guyana Inc (BCGI) is still proceeding discussion with the Ministry on the possible resumption of bauxite mining at its Kurubuka mines in Region 10. However, the result hasn’t been concluded.

In addition, Joseph L.F. Hamilton, Minister of Labour, said that his ministry will start to discuss the labor issues which haven’t been resolved after BCGI’s operation is resumed.
