Hindalco Industries, an Indian aluminum manufacturer under the Aditya Birla Group, is investing Rs 586 crore to construct a new aluminum extrusion plant in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, to produce chassis for Apple iPhones.

The project, approved by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) on August 28, is expected to create 613 jobs and begin production by March 2027.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced the project, noting it will connect Kuppam to Apple’s global supply chain and contribute to India’s "Make in India" initiative. This new facility will enable the domestic production of key iPhone components, including chassis and printed circuit boards (PCBs).

The investment is strategically located just 120 km from Apple’s contract partner Foxconn's Bengaluru plant, aiming to establish an iPhone manufacturing hub in the tri-state area.
