Norsk Hydro planned to start delivering greener aluminum products to the market next year as part of its new strategy of zero-emission by 2050.

Norsk said it planned to use large quantities of post-consumer aluminum scrap to produce aluminum in 2022. According to the current carbon emission situation in the aluminum production process, compared to the current 2.3 kg of greenhouse gas for every 1 kg of aluminum produced, Norsk’s way to produce aluminum will have a footprint of less than 1 kg of carbon dioxide.

The company will develop low-carbon aluminum production capacity based on market demand, adding that a green transition is needed to fight climate change.
