Hydro, a Norwegian aluminum and renewable energy company and one of the largest aluminum companies worldwide, has signed a major long-term agreement with Sanvira Tech LLC to secure carbon anode supply. Carbon anode is a critical component in aluminum smelting.

The contract defines an offtake period of 8 years, with options for extension to ensure a steady supply of carbon anodes for Hydro's operations. The contract will cover up to 25% of the nearly 600,000 metric tons of carbon anodes usage at Hydro's facilities annually.

Sanvira's new anode plant in Oman is currently under construction and is expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025.
