Hydro to explore potential uses of bauxite residue

Norsk Hydro, a Norwegian aluminum and renewable energy company, announced that it has signed a BRL 2.2 million agreement with the University of São Paulo to explore the potential uses of bauxite residues from its mining operations in the State of Pará.

The two-year agreement will focus on researching the potential of bauxite residues in construction, especially in the cement components sector.

The Laboratory of Microstructure and Eco-Efficiency (LME) of the Department of Civil Construction Engineering of the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo will conduct this research.
