It was reported that Hydro replaced tailing dams with a new solution for storing dried tailings from bauxite mines in Brazil, which will raise the safety and avoid environmental injury caused by building permanent bauxite tailing dams for bauxite mining.

Hydro invested approximately US$5.5 million in the final testing phase in order to have the final disposal of tailings in mined areas.

The project test was completed at the end of 2020, and it obtained the operational licensing approval from the Secretariat for Environment and Sustainability (SEMAS) in the State of Pará on December 30, 2020.
