IAI: Global primary aluminum production grows in Q1 2021

According to statistics released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), global primary aluminum production totaled around 16.64 million tons in the first three months of this year, growing by 3.57% from the same period a year ago.

In March alone, global primary aluminum production amounted to roughly 5.73 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 10.37% and a year-on-year hike of nearly 5%.

During the same period, the production of primary aluminum in Asia (excluding China) totaled 378,000 tons, up by 11.5% month on month and 8.93% year on year. China’s estimated output of primary aluminum in March was 3.31 million tons, compared to the revised 3.001 million tons in February.
