India proposes to impose AD duties on China’s aluminum foil

India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) proposed an imposition of anti-dumping (AD) duties on imports of aluminum foil from China after receiving complaints from domestic producers, including Hindalco, Shyam Sel & Power Ltd., Venkateshwara Electrocast Pvt. Ltd., and Raviraj Foils Ltd.

The recommended duties are in the range of US$619 to US$873 per ton, depending on the specific Chinese manufacturer.

The product involved is aluminum foil up to 80 microns in thickness, excluding aluminum foil below 5.5 microns for non-capacitor applications. The tariff codes for the subject products are 76071190, 76072090, 76072010, 76071110, 76071999, 76071991, 76071995, 76071910, 76071994, 76071993, and 76071992.

The period of investigation was from October 2022 to September 2023.

The Ministry of Finance will be responsible for the issuance of a final determination for DGTR’s recommendation.
