The Ministry of Commerce of India will compulsorily monitor 43 aluminum and 46 copper products under the nonferrous metal import monitoring system in order to curb the imports of these products and thereby promote domestic production.

The aluminum products under monitoring included aluminum ingots, wire rods, aluminum scrap, thermite, and certain aluminum pipes.
The copper products included blister copper, refined copper, copper bars, certain copper rod, copper alloys, and sanitary ware.

The online registration was available on April 12, 2021 and will be effective from April 5, 2021.
