Nickel is one of the major components of electric vehicle batteries. Indonesia has a significant supply of nickel. Under this situation, the Indonesian government decided to focus on battery production.
Last week, Indonesian officials said they would invest up to US$31.9 billion in aluminum and other raw materials to build the domestic battery supply chain. The government said that they will also protect the environment during the construction.
