Indonesia is pursuing collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to establish itself as a prominent producer of "green aluminum". The term "green aluminum" refers to environmentally sustainable production methods utilizing renewable energy or recycled materials. With abundant bauxite resources, Indonesia aims to process these materials domestically to bolster its economic growth, targeting supply to global automakers.

Pradana Indraputra, a special advisor at the Investment Ministry, advocated for UAE investment in Indonesia's aluminum sector, emphasizing the production of green aluminum during a Dubai Chambers forum in Jakarta. The visit by Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) representatives, facilitated by Dubai Chambers, underscores growing interest.

EGA previously inked a deal with Indonesia's Inalum to explore technology integration for increased smelting capacity, leveraging solar and hydropower. Although UAE investments in Indonesia remain modest, initiatives like the Cirata floating solar plant signify potential growth opportunities in sustainable ventures.
