The International Aluminium Institute (IAI) has launched an initiative at the 28th Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP 28) held in Dubai, to track the progress of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction of all its member companies.

Some major aluminum producers, including Alcoa, Norsk Hydro, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), Rio Tinto Aluminium, and Hindalco, expressed their support for the initiative.

According to the initiative, the IAI will track and report its member companies’ ambition and progress in GHG reductions and report publicly the total global GHG emissions of the aluminum industry every year.
