The new operators of a mine near Pine Creek, have been given approval to start exporting iron ore out of Darwin Port.

It has been five years since the Frances Creek mine was last in production, but the company Linecrest has been working hard to bring it back to life, and says it is now on track to export 30,000 tonnes by the end of this month.

"We've secured a lease at the port, we've secured an agreement with 1Rail, so the last piece of the puzzle was our approvals," said managing director, Rodney Illingworth.

"So we're into it now and all of the people we've employed are from either Pine Creek, Batchelor or Darwin."
