According to statistics from the Italian steelmakers' association Federacciai, Italy’s crude steel production amounted to 1.2 million tons in December last year, falling by nearly 9% compared to the same month a year earlier.
During the period, the output of Italy’s flat steel products grew by 3.2% year on year to 639,000 tons, and that of long products dropped 4.7% year on year to around 682,000 tons.
In 2024, Italy produced a total of 20 million tons of crude steel, a year-on-year drop of 5%. The output of flat steel products slid by 9.7% year on year to 8.6 million tons, and that of long products was slightly down by 0.2% year on year to nearly 12 million tons.
