Italy's crude steel production goes down in May

According to data from the Italian steelmakers' association Federacciai, in May, Italy's crude steel production was about 1.9 million tons, decreasing by 3.5% year on year. Meanwhile, the flat product output slightly decreased by 7.5% from the same month a year ago to about 765,000 tons. The output of long products was about 1.2 million tons, increasing by 1.8% year on year.

In the first five months, Italy's crude steel production went down by 5.5% year on year to 9 million tons. During the same period, the flat product output declined by 9.3% year on year to 3.8 million tons. The long product output slightly dropped by 1% from the same period a year ago to 5.3 million tons.
