Italy’s crude steel production grows in Dec 2023

According to statistics from the Italian steelmakers' association Federacciai, Italy’s crude steel production totaled around 1.3 million tons in December last year, rising by 6.5% compared to the same month a year ago.

During the period, the output of Italy’s flat steel products fell by 4% year on year to around 615,000 tons, and that of long products increased by 5% year on year to around 694,000 tons.

In the whole year of 2023, Italy produced a total of approximately 21.1 million tons of crude steel, a year-on-year drop of 2.5%. The output of flat steel products slightly dropped by 0.1% year on year to 9.5 million tons, and that of long products was down by 3% year on year to 11.7 million tons.
