Italy’s crude steel production slides in 2022

According to statistics from the Italian steelmakers' association Federacciai, Italy’s crude steel production totaled around 1.27 million tons in December last year, dropping by 31.8% compared to the previous month and by 15.6% from the same month a year ago. The output of flat steel products dropped by 17.6% year on year to 642,000 tons.
In 2022, Italy produced a total of 21.62 million tons of crude steel, a year-on-year decrease of 11.5%. The production of flat steel products during the period amounted to 9.55 million tons, down by 13.8% year on year.
