On June 11, the Japanese government filed a lawsuit with the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding China's anti-dumping (AD) duties on Japans’ stainless steel product, claiming that the imposition may violate international agreements.

The Japanese government stressed that Japan’s main exported products are mostly with high prices, which don’t compete with Chinese products.

China started to impose 18.1% or 29.0% duties on Japan’s stainless steel products, including stainless steel slabs and hot-rolled stainless steel flat-rolled products, since July 2019, on the grounds that the sharp increase in imports from Japan injured China's domestic industries.
