Godo Steel, a Japanese steel manufacturer, has signed a contract with Italian technology provider Danieli to modernize its big bar mill at the Himeji plant in the Kansai region of Japan. The upgraded facility is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2028.
The project involves the transformation of an 87-year-old rolling mill currently producing alloy round bars, deformed bars, and light steel rails.
Danieli will install a brand-new mill of two double-shiftable reverse stands to roll blooms from the existing blooming mill, utilizing existing finishing lines. With a more robust stand design, the upgrade will enhance product quality and improve production efficiency by significantly reducing roll change time. The project is also expected to strengthen operational safety and overall competitiveness.
All core technological components, including electrical controls and automation systems, will be supplied from Danieli’s Asian manufacturing centers. The new mill will also increase Godo Steel’s flexibility in producing small-batch orders, aligning with the company’s commitment to meet diverse market demands.
