Japan's steel exports & imports fall in Jan

According to data from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan exported around 2.46 million tons of steel in January 2021, a year-on-year decline of 13.1%, which was the ninth consecutive month of decline.

Among them, the export volume of ordinary steel was roughly 1.65 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 13%, which was the ninth consecutive month of decline.

In terms of imports, Japan imported 557,000 tons of steel in January, declining by 18.3% year on year. Among them, the imports of ordinary steel were 335,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.5%, which was the 13th consecutive month of decline.
