The price of nickel on the London Metal Exchange (LME) fluctuated violently on December 8, with a difference of US$4,165, a drop of more than 6%. On December 9, Taipei time, the market price continued to fall by 4.08%, and the price came to US$29,695 per ton.

The large fluctuations in LME nickel in recent days are mainly due to Indonesia's consideration of resuming nickel ore exports and taxation after the failure of the World Trade Organization (WTO) lawsuit against the nickel ore export ban.

The primary purpose of the Indonesian government's proposal to levy export taxes on nickel is to allow downstream nickel to obtain higher added value through the supervision of export taxes on nickel.
