The three-month futures price of nickel on the London Metal Exchange (LME) dropped by US$95/ton yesterday (February 22), closing at US$19,493/ton, and the spot price also slid by US$108/ton to US$19,475.5/ton.

The current average nickel price of this month has reached US$18,439/ton, obviously higher than the US$17,863/ton in the previous month.

According to market participants, due to the growing demand for new energy vehicles, rising prices of stainless steel in China, and a tight supply of nickel ore in the Philippines, the nickel price was expected to be remaining optimistic in the near future.
