Fort Wayne-based MetalX is cooperating with private investment firm Manna Capital Partners to build an aluminum rolling slab plant in the Midwest with an investment of more than US$200 million. Around 100 job opportunities are expected to be created by the investment.

The specific location of this new plant hasn’t been confirmed. The possible locations are northeast Indiana, northwest Ohio, and southern Michigan. The Midwest location is ideal as it is close to the raw material supply.

The new plant would cover an area of 500,000 square feet. It is expected to have an annual production capacity of 220 million pounds of ultra-low carbon aluminum rolling slab, mainly for the beverage, packaging, and automobile industries.

The plant location will be identified within the next six months, and the full operation is expected in the first half of 2026.
