Aluminium Plant Podgorica (Uniprom KAP), an aluminum company in Montenegro, shut down the remaining 12 cells, ending its 52-year primary aluminum production life in Montenegro. However, the manufacturing of billets and alloys will be continued with imported sources.

Uniprom KAP closed most of the cells in December 2021 as Montenegro’s electricity supplier EPCG refused to supply power to the plant at the previous price of EUR 44 per MWh due to higher prices at power exchanges.
