In mid-February, due to the power outage in Brazil, Norsk Hydro ASA, one of the largest aluminum companies in the world, briefly closed about 75% of its production at its Albras Aluminio Brasileiro aluminum smelting plant.

Only one of the plant’s four potlines was affected by the power outage, said Hydro. Line 2 was suspended till late last month, while the other three potlines are operational during the power outage.

According to Hydro, by the end of this year, the line will be at full production. The annual production capacity of this plant is about 460,000 tons.
