Novelis Inc., a Georgia-based industrial aluminum company, announced its plan to invest more than US$30 million in a new continuous annealing line at its Plettenberg-Ohle facility in Germany. The new production line will double the production capacity of aluminum used in coffee capsules at the plant and meet the growing demand for aluminum in sustainable packaging solutions.

At present, most of the raw materials for coffee capsules in the world come from Novelis' Ohle plant. The investment will further strengthen Novelis' leadership in the aluminum packaging industry.

Novelis' has a sustainability goal to cut its carbon footprint by 30% by 2026 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 or earlier.
