According to Statistics Korea, South Korea imported around 86,000 tons of stainless steel in March this year, up by 92.4% compared to the previous month and also growing by 24.7% from the same month a year ago.

The increase in imports was due to the shipment from China, delayed by the Lunar New Year holiday in February, arriving in March. The rising energy and raw material prices were also the reason for the increased imports.

In terms of exports, the volume reached approximately 105,000 tons in March, a month-on-month increase of 11.1% and a year-on-year decrease of nearly 16%.

In the first three months of this year, the imports had a year-on-year reduction of 27.8%, and the exports dropped by 17.1% year on year to 294,000 tons.
