Nucor, U.S. Steel, Steel Dynamics increase zinc-coating surcharges

Several US steel mills, including Nucor, U.S. Steel, and Steel Dynamics, have announced that they will increase additional zinc-coating surcharges for galvanized products due to an increase in zinc costs.
After the surcharges are added, the base price for Nucor will be up by US$100/short ton, that for U.S. Steel and Steel Dynamics will be increased by US$97/short ton and US$142/short ton, respectively.
Nucor’s surcharges will be effective from April 9, U.S. Steel will be valid from May 1, and Steel Dynamics’ will go into effect on April 1.
