Outokumpu, a leading stainless steel manufacturer in Europe based in Finland, will use Neste MY Renewable Diesel at its Kemi chrome mine and Tornio steel mill to replace fossil fuels, in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Outokumpu aims to realize carbon neutrality at its Kemi mine by 2025. By using Neste’s renewable fuel, the greenhouse gas emissions generated at the Kemi mine and the Tornio mill will be reduced by 90% on average. The Kemi mine’s annual greenhouse gas emissions are expected to decrease by nearly 11,300 tons with the use of renewable fuel supplied by Neste, which means that the mine will achieve nearly 30% of its total carbon neutrality target.

Neste’s renewable diesel is entirely produced from renewable raw materials, such as waste and residue oils and fats, which are known as drop-in fuels.
