S&P Global Platts said it will launch price assessments of green aluminum by issuing daily prices for low-carbon and zero-carbon aluminum on April 6. The production process of green aluminum is aimed to reduce carbon emissions.

The metal industry has been facing difficulty to adopt common standards for low-carbon aluminum because producers are competing for market share among consumers who are having the pressure to cut emission footprints on their own.

According to Platts, its price of low-carbon aluminum will be applied to primary aluminum, with a maximum carbon dioxide emissions of 4 tons per metal output during aluminum smelting.
