South Korean steelmaker POSCO’s stainless steel production totaled around 470,000 tons in the second quarter of this year, hiking by 20% compared to the previous quarter and by 3% from the year-ago period.

The company’s stainless steel production and sales have been gradually recovering from the impact of flooding caused by Typhoon Hinnamnor in September last year. The cold-rolling line has resumed normal, with increased production.

In the second quarter of the year, PZSS (POSCO Zhangjiagang Stainless Steel)’s sales of stainless steel decreased by 2,000 tons quarter on quarter to 248,000 tons, sales dropped to US$646 million, and operating loss slid to US$27 million from the loss of US$53 million in the preceding quarter.
