According to a performance report released by Rio Tinto, the group produced 14.6 million tons of bauxite in the second quarter of this year, growing by 5% compared to the previous quarter and up by 9% from the same period a year ago.

The 9% year-on-year increase was due to the support of the Amrun mine in Far North Queensland, and the increase of 7% at the non-managed CBG joint venture (JV) in Guinea reflected good progress on the expansion project.

In the first half of this year, Rio Tinto’s bauxite output reached 28.37 million tons, increasing by 8% compared to the same period in 2019.
