Rio Tinto, a leading global mining group, announced that it will join the First Movers Coalition, a global initiative to aim to commercialize zero-carbon technologies.

The World Economic Forum and the US Government first proposed the initiative. Its goal is to help industries, including aluminum, aviation, chemicals, concrete, shipping, steel, and trucking, to develop clean technology innovation because these industries account for 30% of global emissions.

Rio Tinto aimed to reach net zero by 2050 and reduce 50% of Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.
