Rio Tinto’s bauxite, aluminum, alumina production drops in Q4 2021

According to a report of Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto, in the fourth quarter of 2021, the company’s bauxite production totaled around 13.1 million tons, dropping by 2% compared to the same period a year ago.

During the period, Rio Tinto’s aluminum production decreased by 7% year on year to 757,000 tons; the alumina production slid by 8% year on year to 1.91 million tons.

In 2022 production guidance, Rio Tinto expects to produce 54-57 million tons of bauxite, 3.1-3.2 million tons of aluminum, and 8.0-8.4 million tons of alumina.
