Mining giant Rio Tinto reported that the company’s bauxite production totaled 13.9 million tons in the third quarter of this year, rising by 2% compared to the same period a year ago.

During the period, the company’s aluminum production was 828,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 9%. The output of copper was 169,000 tons, up by 5% year on year.

In the first three quarters, Rio Tinto's bauxite output amounted to 39.5 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5%; aluminum output reached 2.427 million tons, a year-on-year growth of 9%.

In terms of its iron ore business, as the largest iron ore producer in the world, Rio Tinto cut its annual output of its Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) due to plant closures and wildfires, from the previously estimated 10-11 million tons of iron ore pellets and concentrate to 9.3-9.8 million tons.
