Rio Tinto reported that its bauxite output was 14 million tons in the third quarter, rising by 2% compared to the previous month while dropping by 3% from the same month a year ago. In the first three quarters of this year, Rio Tinto's bauxite output amounted to 41.2 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4%.

In the third quarter, the firm’s aluminum output had a month-on-month reduction of 5% and a year-on-year decrease of 3% to 774,000 tons. The aluminum output in the first three quarters totaled around 2.39 million tons, up by 1% year on year.

The slight growth was mainly due to a strike at the Kitimat smelter. After the end of a strike which caused a reduction in production, the smelter’s output will grow steadily.
