Rio Tinto’s Iceland smelter gains ASI certification

According to Rio Tinto, its ISAL aluminum smelter in Iceland has obtained the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) certification, meeting the highest internationally recognized standards for responsible aluminum production.

ISAL received ASI Performance Standard certification with provisional status after being audited by ERM CVS, an independent third party.

The on-site audit will be completed after the COVID-19 travel restrictions are eased.
