Rio Tinto's iron ore shipments in the first quarter hit a record high. In the past three months, it shipped 82.5 million tons of iron ore, up by 16% from the same period a year ago.

Due to conveyor failures at the Kennecott mine and geotechnical challenges at the Escondida mine, Rio Tinto downgraded its full-year copper production estimate. Rio Tinto planned to transport the ore by trucks while procuring replacement motors for the conveyors.
