According to statistics, Russia's alumina imports from China amounted to 9,950 tons in March this year, surging from only 105 tons in the same month a year ago.

Australia and Ukraine were the two major sources of Russia’s alumina imports, especially Ukraine. Last March, Ukraine's alumina exports to Russia accounted for two-thirds of its total import volume.

In the first three months of this year, Russia imported 10,650 tons of alumina from China, a surge from 330 tons in the same month in 2021. The imports in the January-March period were five times the total in 2021.

Rusal, the world's largest aluminum producer outside China, is the main importer of China’s alumina.
