Russia’s stainless imports grow in H1 2021

Among them, the imports of stainless cold-rolled flat products and long products were up by nearly 16% year on year, respectively. The imports of hot-rolled flat products dropped by 25.5%, and those of seamless pipes were down by 16.6%, both on a year-on-year basis. The imports from Asia accounted for the largest proportion at 81.1% of the total.

According to the Russian Special Steel and Alloys Consumers and Suppliers Association (USSA), Russia’s stainless steel imports amounted to around 206,200 tons in the first half of this year, growing by 4.8% compared to the same period a year ago.

In June alone, Russia’s stainless imports totaled around 42,600 tons, up by 6.1% month on month and 43.6% year on year. Among them, China was the biggest provider during the period, occupying a share of 48.7%, followed by India’s 15.6%, Indonesia’s 6.6%, Taiwan’s 6.1%, and Ukraine’s 3.7%.
