According to statistics from the Russian Special Steel and Alloys Consumers and Suppliers Association (USSA), Russia imported around 35,000 tons of stainless steel in January this year, up by 15.4% compared to the previous month but down by 8.2% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, the imports of cold-rolled stainless steel rose by nearly 10%, hot-rolled stainless steel grew by 31%, welded pipes increased by 77%, seamless pipes rose by 18%, and long products increased by 2.5%. Russia’s stainless steel imports from China accounted for the largest proportion.

In 2022, Russia's stainless steel imports dropped by 19.6% year on year to approximately 372,000 tons, due to sanctions imposed on Russia over the country’s invasion of Ukraine.
