South Korea’s rebar imports decline, H-beam imports rise in May

As of May 22, South Korea’s rebar imports totaled around 39,000 tons, down by 52% month on month.

Among them, China accounted for the most proportion of South Korea’s rebar imports, with 22,000 tons, followed by Japan’s 13,000 tons, Taiwan’s 4,000 tons, and other countries’ 46 tons.

In terms of H-beam, the total imports of South Korea’s H-beam were nearly 55,000 tons by May 22, up by 2.2% month on month, which hit a record high since March 2021.

Among them, Japan was the country that exported the most H-beam to South Korea, with nearly around 15,000 tons. The followings were China, Bahrain, Vietnam, and other countries, with approximately 14,800 tons, 14,500 tons, 9,900 tons, and 230 tons, respectively.
