Due to the failure to reach an agreement between Industri Energi and Norsk Industri by an agreed deadline, workers at Alcoa's Mosjøen smelter in Norway went on strike on August 22, 2022.

The strike at the 200,000-ton-per-year Mosjøen smelter will lead to a suspension of product delivery until the end of the strike. If the strike continues until September 19, the smelter may reduce its production by 20%. Another 10% of production will be cut every other week if the strike continues after September 19, until only 34 of the 404 pots remain in operation.

Alcoa’s Lista plant in Norway is not included in this strike this time.
