In 2023, under the "Digital Transformation Task Force," Taiwan's China Steel Corporation (CSC) advanced comprehensive smart manufacturing in its steel refining process, implementing unmanned overhead cranes for steel handling. This ensured efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reduced carbon emissions across the entire plant.

The ongoing automation project for the remaining 35 coil-handling cranes aims to enhance operational competitiveness, marking a milestone towards intelligent warehousing.

Since 2015, CSC has pioneered unmanned crane research, developing AI technology in 2018 and achieving the first dual unmanned coil handling operation in 2020.

The results indicate extended motor life, reduced product damage, and substantial cost savings, underscoring the success of CSC's innovative and cost-effective approach in the global competition for unmanned crane systems.
