The demand for stainless steel in Taiwan in both domestic and foreign markets has been strong since the fluctuation in nickel price in March. However, with the cooling down nickel prices, the market situation gradually returned to normal, and the overall demand was limited for the growth.

According to traders, although export prices will go higher with upstream mills’ upward prices and strong raw materials prices, the sales volume and prices were expected to be curbed due to the current tight shipping capacity and soaring freight.

Facing the possible surge in main upstream suppliers’ prices for April, Taiwan’s market participants are worrying that the price and volume will move in a totally opposite direction.
