According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported a total of around 2.11 million tons of flat steel products in the first three months of this year, growing by 5.5% compared to the same period a year ago.

Among them, the import in March alone totaled nearly 607,000 tons, down by 27% year on year due to the weak demand in December 2021, the ordering month for shipment arrived in March this year.

Russia and Ukraine are traditionally the main sources of Turkey’s hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports. However, after the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine, Turkey imported the largest proportion of HRC from China.
