According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s stainless steel imports amounted to 95,300 tons in February this year, growing by more than two times compared to the same month a year ago.

Among them, the imports from China totaled 50,000 tons, a year-on-year surge of 426.3%; those from Indonesia were around 19,000 tons, a year-on-year hike of roughly four times; those from South Korea were 10,000 tons, a year-on-year reduction of 11%.

During the period, the import value was US$278 million, up by around three times year on year, due to higher steel prices driven by increased domestic demand.
