Turkish stainless steel coil imports increase in Jan

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported nearly 70,000 tons of stainless steel coil in January 2021, which was higher than 52,000 tons in the same period a year ago.
Among them, China was the largest supplier with about 27,000 tons, rising more than two times year on year. South Korea ranked second with roughly 23,000 tons, increasing by 18% year on year, while the EU supply significantly decreased during the period.
In 2020, Turkey imported roughly 164,000 tons of stainless steel coil from China, soaring by over 50% from 2019 due to competitive prices.
