A countervailing measure on imports of stainless steel bars and rods from India has been proposed by the UK's Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) in its initial findings. Government subsidies in the country of origin can cause imports to be sold at unfair prices, and the countervailing measures could offset the loss.

As a result of the TRA's findings, the Statement of Essential Facts (SEF) recommends revoking the measure as it is unlikely to cause injury to the UK industry.

The products involved in this measure are stainless steel bars and rods, which can be used in the automotive, aerospace, and food processing industries. They can be further worked into other stainless steel products, such as precision components, or they can be used as specific components in larger products.
